All Aboard for European Ocean Days 2026

The European Ocean Days 2026 took place in Brussels, Belgium, from 2 to 6 March 2026, bringing together ocean stakeholders from across Europe to collaborate on shared priorities for ocean governance, sustainability, and innovation. This flagship week-long event convened policymakers, scientists, industry leaders, SMEs, civil society, youth, and coastal communities to exchange ideas, scale up solutions, and support concrete actions for a healthy and resilient ocean.

MOIRAI happily displayed a project poster in the exhibition area during the 4th Mission Ocean and Waters Forum (5 March). We also took part in the sessions Marine Knowledge for Ocean Health and 2nd Stakeholder Consultation for the European Ocean Research and Innovation Strategy (3 March), Sustainable Blue Economy for EU’s Competitiveness: Policy Instruments and Success Stories and Towards the Vision 2040 for a thriving fisheries and aquaculture sector (4 March), as well as Towards an EU Strategy for Coastal Communities (6 March).

European Ocean Days emphasise marine knowledge and observation, blue economy innovation, climate action and biodiversity, and ocean governance—all integral components of Europe’s vision for a sustainable maritime future. The programme included interactive sessions on improving ocean observation systems, leveraging data and digital tools (such as the European Digital Twin Ocean), fostering blue investments, and enabling stakeholder dialogue that feeds directly into the implementation of the European Ocean Pact.

These priorities closely parallel the research objectives of MOIRAI , which focuses on developing advanced, integrated modelling frameworks and sustainability assessment tools to support evidence-based ocean and climate solutions. By contributing to improved ocean modelling, eco-efficiency metrics, and comprehensive environmental data integration, MOIRAI’s scientific advances can inform stronger ocean governance, smarter policy decisions, and the sustainability goals championed throughout European Ocean Days.

Stay tuned for more on how MOIRAI’s work continues to support Europe’s ocean research and sustainability agenda.
